  • Empty 2-liter soda bottle or other large plastic bottle with a secure lid
  • Vegetable or canola oil
  • Blue food coloring (optional)

Ocean In a Bottle

Make your own ocean waves.

Other Materials:

Empty 2-liter soda bottle or other large plastic bottle with a secure lid, vegetable or canola oil, blue food coloring (optional)

Adult Supervision Required

Grown-Ups

Fill a plastic bottle 1/3 with water and add a few drops of food coloring, and secure the top. Let your camper shake the bottle to mix it up, then fill the rest of the bottle with oil.

Kids

Shake your ocean in a bottle to make bubbles and waves. Add your creatures to the bottle and watch them swim and float.
