Are you afraid of the dark? Everyone gets nervous sometimes. But with this CKJR adventure, we’ll learn about the wonders of nighttime—from the stars in the sky to animals that sleep all winter long.

For Grown-Ups

What You’ll Need

Your CKJR Toolkit. What’s in the Toolkit?
  • Blocks (plastic, wooden, cardboard, magnetic—anything to build with!)
  • Play Doh (store bought or homemade)
  • A bin for water, plus cups, scoops, and spoons
  • Figurines (small animals, dinosaurs, or people)
  • A big roll or pad of paper
  • Washable paints, crayons, markers, and any other easy-to-clean art supplies


  • A flashlight
  • A bag with assorted small objects (markers, pens, small toys, kitchen items, etc—any small household items will work)
  • A dark room (or a dark area outdoors, away from street lights)
  • A paper plate
  • Thread or yarn
  • A hole punch
  • Tape
  • Thin cardboard
  • Something to poke holes in the paper—like a thumbtack or push pin
  • Blankets, sheets, pillows for fort-making
  • Googly eyes (optional)
  • Marshmallows (optional)
  • Hershey’s chocolate (optional)
  • Graham crackers (optional)
  • A microwave (optional)

Family Activity
